Winterset City Park

4.7

Winterset City Park has many wonderful features spread out over 76 acres - three beautiful limestone shelter houses, play equipment including a brand new Play for All playground, restrooms, picnic areas, campground, live English hedge maze, lower park natural area, Cutler-Donahoe Covered Bridge, Bennett Cabin, Clark Tower, and other historical sites. In March of 2021, City Park was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. City Park celebrated 150 Years in 2022!

Whimsical wooden statues dot the lower park grounds. These were carved from Ash trees that had to be topped as a precaution due to the Emerald Ash Borer.

The stone bridge located near Cutler-Donahoe Covered Bridge was the location of the picnic scene in the film The Bridges of Madison County.

The road to Clark Tower closes each night at sunset and is closed during the winter months. The park's main drive remains open year round.
